By waters still, o'er troubled sea, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me

Young, passionate, and innovative, Jonathan Murrietta is a writer, producer, actor and singer, who has lived in Long Beach, California all his life.

Jonathan has worked as a freelance journalist for the past three years, pursuing stories for Thoroughbred Daily News, Long Beach 908 Magazine, and as a radio broadcaster on Sirius XM Satellite Radio's Down the Stretch, a horse racing show that airs every Saturday morning on channel 93.

"My greatest joy as a writer and creative person is getting lost in richly imaginative worlds," Murrietta stated. "I enjoy telling stories that touch the soul and impact others."

Murrietta graduated from Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, California and delivered the commencement speech as Wilson’s Valedictorian. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2015 from California State University, Long Beach. He holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in theatre. While attending Long Beach State, Murrietta wrote for his campus newspaper, the Daily 49er, and was a news anchor for the paper's weekly update show. As a college student, he was also an intern at Santa Anita Park Racetrack, where he learned to combine his interests of horse racing and multimedia to produce high quality videos for the track's marketing department. Jonathan's internship at the races led him to be a production runner/talent assistant for NBC Sports Group for its coverage of the Breeders' Cup World Thoroughbred Championships.

And finally, most recently, Murrietta has channeled his creativity in his acting pursuits, delighting audiences as Joey Biltmore in "Guys & Dolls," and as the bumbling houseboy Robertson Ay in Disney's "Mary Poppins" at the Richard and Karen Carpenter Performing Arts Center in Long Beach for Musical Theatre West. He also performed in Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic "Carousel" there as well, playing Enoch Snow Jr.

Murrietta's diverse writing portfolio is a testament to his varied interests. Besides his hobbies of acting and singing, Jonathan is a big sports fan and enjoys cooking, photography, going to the beach, traveling and fishing.
